Free Press Head Start for Sept. 19

Good morning.

The state funeral for Queen Elizabeth II is today. Reporter Melissa Martin is in London and you can read her story on preparations for the event here.

Columnist Shelley Cook writes about the complexities of mourning a member of the royal family she followed news of with her grandmother, but who also played a role in colonialism in Canada.

In Winnipeg, a memorial service for Queen Elizabeth will be held at 7 p.m. at St. John’s Anglican Cathedral, the birthplace of the Anglican Church in Western Canada.

And you can find out here what is open and what’s closed today.
