A Winnipeg doctor has alleged he was fired by the Interlake-Eastern Regional Health Authority after he reported another doctor’s misdiagnosis he claims led to a patient’s death. Erik Pindera reports.

On April 19, 1945: The Winnipeg Free Press reported the German strongholds of Leipzig and Halle fell to the U.S. 1st Army in a victory that threatened the complete collapse of the Nazis’ central front. German broadcasts said Russian forces had made a deep advance east of Berlin. British prime minister Winston Churchill indicated he thought the German government could collapse within a few days. Another flood disaster was forced on Holland after German troops blew up a 300-foot dike along the northwest end of the Zuiderzee, according to a reporter travelling with the 1st Canadian Army.
