Two crosswalks painted with Pride rainbows have been defaced in Lundar, Man., the latest in a series of homophobic incidents in southern Manitoba.
Manitoba’s government awarded a Winnipeg-based clinic with a contract after the federal government determined the private medical centre charged patients over $353,000 for necessary tests, leading to a clawback in provincial health funding this spring. Manitoba Health Minister Audrey Gordon said her department recently directed the clinic to cease charging patients for medically insured services.
RCMP in Nova Scotia believe they have found the remains of two of four people swept away when torrential rainfall hit the province on the weekend. Four people, including two children, were reported missing when vehicles they were travelling in were submerged in storms that dropped 250 millimetres of rain on some areas, washing out roads and bridges.
