Three people are in hospital after another serious crash yesterday at a highway intersection near Carberry, Man., where 17 seniors were killed in June. Provincial officials say they intend to refresh the rumble strips and pavement markings at the intersection and improve signage.
Another escalation in the labour dispute that’s been closing Liquor Marts: the Manitoba Government and General Employees’ Union members say they have seen staff from transport firm Covert Logistics cross the picket line at the MLL distribution centre. MGEU says workers with a local transport company have been doing warehouse selection and delivery preparation.
The provincial government has known for years about a flawed application of the law that governs abuse and neglect in care homes. Recommendations to amend provincial legislation to fix it have been made numerous times but were ignored by government, Tom Brodbeck writes, resulting in thousands of allegations of abuse and neglect going uninvestigated.
And: Meta, the company that owns Facebook and Instagram, announced it will be ramping up the removal of news content for Canadian users. That means people in Canada will no longer be able to share or view news articles and other content posted by media outlets — including international outlets.
