Good evening. Here’s a look at what’s been happening in Winnipeg and the world today.

'We need everything'

Hundreds of people were reported killed in a blast at a Gaza City hospital today.

Hamas blamed an Israeli airstrike, while the Israeli military said the hospital was hit by a rocket misfired by Palestinian militants.

The carnage unfolded as the U.S. tried to convince Israel to allow the delivery of supplies to desperate civilians, aid groups and hospitals in the tiny Gaza Strip, which has been under a complete siege since Hamas’ deadly rampage in southern Israel last week.

Meanwhile in Manitoba, Jewish and Palestinian communities are increasingly concerned about their safety.

'My life was so very close to being ended that day'

King’s Bench Justice Ken Champagne found Trevor Farley not criminally responsible for a three-hour bloody rampage that claimed the lives of his parents and ended with his attack on nursing supervisor Candyce Szkwarek in the atrium of Seven Oaks hospital.

“It haunts me,” Szkwarek told the court today in a victim impact statement. “I have a constant daily reminder when I look in the mirror and see all my scars from the stab wounds and surgeries. They all take me back to that day.”

Winnipeggers dominated at the World Tenpin Bowling Championships in Salmiya, Kuwait, this weekend.
