The moons of Mars, strategic maple syrup and more

Hello colleagues, and welcome to Coverage, the newsletter of the Free Press Media Literacy and Learning Project! Today is MTS PD day, a day to grow and challenge our practice and a little oasis of introspection in our very busy professional lives.

This week in news we learned that the police are concerned about a spike in pedestrian-involved traffic accidents, reminding us it’s a good time to review road safety rules with our students, especially as the mornings get darker.

In science news, Japan has launched a space module in hopes of finally collecting samples of dust from the moons of Mars, and we get in to specific solutions for wildlife conservation in Manitoba.

And finally, proofreading your work before you submit it gets an endorsement from mayoral candidate Keven Klein, who featured beautiful scenery from Edmonton in a video about campaign promises for Winnipeg.
