Majority want vaccine mandatory: Sixty per cent of Canadians say people should be required to get a vaccine for COVID-19 if one is developed, a new poll found. The Canadian Press reports. READ MORE

On April 28, 1969: The Winnipeg Free Press reported that in France, president Charles de Gaulle had announced his resignation, following a stinging personal defeat in a national referendum on senate reform and regionalization. In Manitoba, hundreds of thousands of tons of wind-blown ice ground over the shore at Lake Dauphin, destroying several cottages and damaging many others. Air Canada’s 108-plane fleet remained grounded as an eight-day strike showed no signs of ending. Terence O’Neill resigned as prime minister of Northern Ireland after seven years in office.
