‘She didn’t deserve to die’: Rabbi Yishoel Goldstein described Saturday’s synagogue shooting a day after the attack in southern California, which claimed the life of a congregant. “I couldn’t see his eyes. I couldn’t see his soul,” Goldstein said of the suspect. READ MORE

On April 29, 1918: The Manitoba Free Press reported that in Germany there was depression over the country’s fearful losses in the Great War. British troops were in possession of Voormezeele, and there was a desperate battle in progress southwest of Ypres. Members of Canada’s Northwest Mounted Police would for the first time be allowed to fight in the war; three squadrons would be recruited from the force’s ranks and head overseas. READ MORE
