Ambulance announcement: Premier Brian Pallister and Health Minister Kelvin Goertzen will make an announcement regarding ambulance fees at the legislature this morning.
Cash for communities: Liberal cabinet minister Jim Carr will this morning announce funding to “benefit Indigenous communities in Manitoba.” He’s speaking at a downtown news conference on behalf of Innovation, Science and Economic Development Minister Navdeep Bains.
Commemorative coin: A limited-edition $20 coin commemorating Stefan Michalak’s tale of an encounter with a UFO is being released by the Royal Canadian Mint. One side of the coin is a depiction of a flying saucer hovering about Michalak in Whiteshell Provincial Park more than 50 years ago. Kevin Rollason reports. READ MORE

The Preds can clinch the Central Division with a win or a Jets regulation loss. On April 3, 1928: The Manitoba Free Press reported that a new 15-storey building would be constructed at Portage and Main; “eastern capitalists” were taking over the property on the northeast corner of the intersection for the construction of the modern office building, estimated to cost $2.5 million. The northwestern U.S. was hit by a large late-winter storm. Charges laid against a prominent leader of the Ku Klux Klan were part of an effort to drive the Klan out of Pennsylvania. READ MORE
