Free Press Head Start for April 6

Good morning.

Conductor Boris Brott, 78, has died after he was struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run in Hamilton on Tuesday. He founded the National Academy Orchestra of Canada and the country’s largest orchestral music festival.

The second of five phases of provincial parks bookings begins at 7 a.m. Reservations can be made for Birds Hill, Falcon Beach, Falcon Lakeshore and West Hawk Lake.

Twenty-five years ago today, people started shovelling amid a blizzard that began in the late afternoon on April 5 and continued until April 7. The enormous dump of spring snow led to 1997’s Flood of the Century.
