Researchers in Wyoming are exploring ways to capture carbon emissions from coal plants and sequester them deep underground, projects that could be more feasible in the wake of recent legislation passed by Congress.

On Aug. 15, 1923: The Manitoba Free Press reported that although rescue parties had succeeded in bringing out 34 men trapped after an explosion in a mine in Kemmerly, Wyo., it was feared the remaining 104 men had perished. Directors of the United Farmers of Manitoba were to meet in Winnipeg to advance plans for the organization of a wheat pool. William Meighen, brother of former prime minister Arthur Meighen, succeeded Col. H.W. Cooper as warden of Stony Mountain Penitentiary. Search our archives for more here.
