Omnitrax tight-lipped: Omnitrax is refusing to explain what grounds it has to turn its back on a 2008 contract that provided millions of taxpayer dollars in exchange for keeping its rail line running to Churchill. Toddler death: Vanessa Bushie is scheduled to be sentenced this afternoon for second-degree murder in the death of her 21-month-old daughter, Kierra Williams. The child had been returned to her biological family by Child and Family Services a year before her death. Crown and defence lawyers are expected to ask for a life sentence without the possibility of parole for at least 14 years.

Child pornography: Daniel Kamenicky, who was known as Dan the Magic Man for his work as a children’s magician, secretly videoed up-skirt shots of young girls’ genitals while he worked as an educational assistant for Windsor School within the Louis Riel School Division, a court heard on Tuesday.
