Two election forums: Candidates from all four provincial political parties will debate five key disability issues today at the Norwood Hotel, 112 Marion St., from 10 a.m. to noon. There also is an election forum about mental health today at 7 p.m. at Berney Theatre Asper Jewish Community Campus, 123 Doncaster St. Participants will include candidates from the four major parties in the upcoming provincial election.

On Aug. 27, 1926: The Manitoba Free Press reported that in Clymer, Pa., 68 were estimated to have died in a mine explosion; 12 bodies had been recovered and 21 others located. In Winnipeg, 7,000 citizens heard an appeal by Conservative prime minister Aurthur Meighen for support in the election campaign, in which he took aim at the former government led by Liberal prime minister Mackenzie King.
