Free Press Head Start for Aug. 30

Good morning.

Brian Pallister will resign as Manitoba’s premier effective 8 a.m. Wednesday, saying he wants to eliminate any perception of influence on the leadership race to replace him. The Progressive Conservative caucus will have to choose an interim leader.

Today is the final day for the U.S. to evacuate people from the Kabul airport before a Tuesday deadline.

Provincial health officials will hold their regular Monday news conference on the COVID-19 pandemic. The Leila Avenue mass vaccination site will close after today.
