At the COP15 talks in Montreal today, federal Natural Resources Minister Jonathan Wilkinson will make an announcement on the sustainable mining of critical minerals. The Canadian Press reports.

Relatives of Morgan Harris, as well as supporters, blocked entry to Brady Road landfill on Sunday to pressure authorities to conduct a search of two sites, including where Harris’s remains are believed to be. A second group gathered at Prairie Green Landfill, where the remains of Harris, as well as those of Marcedes Myran, could be. Chris Kitching reports.

Mercedes Garcia-Holguera, assistant professor at the University of Manitoba’s department of architecture, is working on a project developing biomaterials that could be used to address the housing shortage in northern Indigenous communities. Rachel Ferstl has the story.

On Dec. 12, 1921: The Manitoba Free Press reported in Montreal, General Ferdinand Foch of France, who had been Supreme Commander of the Allied forces in the closing months of the First World War, spoke at a reception in his honour and praised the valour of the Canadian corps who served in France. Near Moose Jaw, Sask., a bandit attempted to rob the Imperial Limited train on the CP line, but was stymied in his efforts when the employee in charge of the express car convinced the would-be thief he did not have the combination to the safe.
