Well-known Manitoba physician Dr. W.W. Pirt, died of a heart attack at the age of 51. A Winnipeg solicitor made a length submission to the transport commission of Canada, urging that a direct rail line from Winnipeg to the Hudson Bay railway would be in the best interests of the country as a whole.
