Historic votes in House: The U.S. House of Representatives is expected to impeach a president for only the third time in the republic’s history today. Serial killer caught: Police in Thailand have captured a convicted serial killer who was wanted for allegedly killing a woman this weekend, months after he was released through what prison officials admit was a misguided policy.

On Dec. 18, 1944: The Winnipeg Free Press reported that in France, the U.S. First Army launched countermeasures against the largest German counter-offensive of the western European campaign.In Italy, Canadian forces of the British 8th Army had captured more than 1,100 prisoners since they launched their assaults west of the Montibe River two weeks earlier.
