On Dec. 19, 1979: The Winnipeg Free Press reported that Manitoba’s health minister wanted the Victoria General Hospital’s board of trustees to respond to allegations that patient care was being threatened by a breakdown in staff relations at the hospital. Beginning in 1980, the provincial government would no longer register its fleet of vehicles in Brandon to take advantage of lower Autopac rates. Pierre Trudeau, recently returned to the post of leader of the federal Liberal party, planned to kick off his election campaign in Winnipeg. READ MORE
