Hydro seeking hikes: A Public Utilities Board hearing into Manitoba Hydro’s requested rate increases begins this morning. The Crown corporation had applied for a 7.9 per cent hike effective last August, and the PUB approved a 3.36 per cent interim increase. At this hearing, the PUB will review the interim hike and a requested 7.9 per cent hike proposed for April 1.

Trump endorses embattled Moore: U.S. President Donald Trump endorsed Roy Moore, the Republican candidate in the Alabama Senate race, in a tweet early this morning. It was Trump’s strongest show of support for Moore since allegations surfaced he sexually assaulted teenage girls decades ago.

Private matter: Private schools are receiving government funding increases at a higher rate than public schools. Between the 2012-13 and 2015-16 school years, grants to private schools increased 11 per cent, compared with 6.2 per cent for the public system.
