On the bright side

Winnipeg students of all ages faced off against peers and professional athletes Thursday, as they competed in an annual Rock, Paper, Scissors tournament for charity in the St. James-Assiniboia School Division.

Grade 6 student Ben Cherwinski took the top prize. Maggie Macintosh reports.

On Dec. 8, 1969: The Winnipeg Free Press reported a St. James-Assiniboia youth plunged 100 feet to his death from the top of a Greater Winnipeg Gas Company storage tank at Wilkes Avenue and Kenaston Boulevard in Tuxedo; the youth and a companion had climbed over a six-foot fence topped with barbed wire to ascend and walk on the ice-covered tank.
