The province no longer tracks the emergency protocol used to alert health-care staff of violent or aggressive incidents inside Manitoba hospitals.
The unannounced move comes after the Free Press reported on a surge in code white incidents in some Winnipeg hospitals in 2019.
A code white, triggered when health-care workers or security guards are confronted with violent or aggressive persons and need help to de-escalate the situation, were on the rise in three city hospitals in 2017 and 2018, the Free Press reported in 2019. Nicole Buffie has the story.

Urban Circle Training Centre has launched a new holistic course to recruit more early child-care educators and increase diversity among daycare staff across Winnipeg.
The centre has partnered with Red River College Polytechnic to run an accredited diploma program that will equip graduates with academic and Indigenous cultural lessons. Maggie Macintosh has more here.

On Feb. 25, 1933: The Winnipeg Free Press reported two Winnipeg airmen, a pilot and a mechanic, were injured but managed to escape death when their aircraft cracked up as they attempted to land at Lac du Bonnet during a heavy snowstorm. Japan controlled strategic gateways in Manchuria as its armed forces sought to subdue the Chinese province of Jehol. The Japanese delegation withdrew the country from the League of Nations after the assembly adopted a report blaming Japan for events in Manchuria. Read the rest of this day’s paper here.
