Kansas City comeback: The Kansas City Chiefs won their second NFL championship — their first in 50 years — with a late comeback win over the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LIV in Miami. On Feb. 3, 1917: The Manitoba Free Press reported that the United States was almost certain to send the German ambassador back to his home country and cut off all diplomatic relations with Germany; public opinion in the U.S. supported the direction U.S. policy was taking, given anger over German submarine warfare. In Ottawa, Canadian prime minister Robert Borden gave a full history of the Ross rifle in the House of Commons; the rifle, adopted by the Canadian military, was very accurate but in battlefield conditions in the Great War proved unreliable.
