Good morning!

Your forecast: That windshield brush is beginning to feel like an extension of our bodies, as it seems every morning we’re greeted by snow-covered vehicles. Today was no different, although the light snow that fell overnight ended in most parts of the city by about 5 a.m. There’s still a 30 per cent chance of flurries later today, and the daytime high is a comfortable -9 C. For Saturday, expect a cloudy day, with a 40 per cent chance of snow and an almost balmy 0 C, while Sunday drops to -6 C with a strong breeze and a chance of blowing snow. So, keep that brush handy.

Hurricane warning: The Winnipeg Jets are at home tonight at the MTS Centre hosting the Carolina Hurricanes. The Hurricanes have won seven of their last 11 games, although they lost to Calgary on Wednesday. The Jets, meanwhile, have lost four of their five games, and hopes for a playoff berth are fading. In fact, after Thursday’s NHL action, the Jets (22-25-3) are just two points ahead of Columbus for dead last in the NHL.

First Friday: The chic side of Winnipeg is on full display this evening, as it is on the first Friday of every month. That’s when artists in the Exchange district invite the public into their personal studios and galleries to fist-bump and set free their inner bohemians. Downtown cafés are also open late because, of course, artistic encounters are best fuelled by plenty of espresso.
