Indeed, Environment Canada has posted a seven-day Winnipeg weather forecast this morning that’s easy on the eyes. Today, the weather agency is calling for fog patches this morning but clearing as the somewhat breezy day goes on, with an afternoon high of 24 C under a cloudy sky. The overnight low is 15 C. For Saturday, expect a mix of sun and clouds and a high of 27 C, while Sunday will be mostly cloudy with a high of 20 C. No bail for teen: In court Thursday, a judge noted that while the young man accused in the deadly stabbing outside Kelvin High School in early June was a good candidate for release, he would not do that because “doing so would bring the public’s faith in the justice system into question, given how strong of a case the Crown appears to have against him.” The 17-year-old accused, who can’t be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was denied bail, causing his family members to break down in tears. The victim in the case, also 17, was stabbed on school grounds around 12:30 p.m. near the school’s southeast doors. READ MORE

Dropping out of race: Another federal election candidate has been done in by comments made on social media. Stefan Jonasson, a candidate in the Winnipeg riding of Charleswood-St. James-Assiniboia-Headingley, has dropped out of the race after comments surfaced in which he compared the beliefs of one set of Orthodox Jews to the Taliban. A Unitarian minister since 1991, Jonasson posted a religious article three years ago on social media, and accused the Haredim — an Orthodox branch of Judaism — of mistreating women by segregating the sexes, enforcing strict dress codes and more. The comments surface on a blog called the True North Times. READ MORE

Jeff Chiu / The Associated Press FilesBokhari says ride-sharing services like Uber are coming “whether we like it or not,” and her party would like to be proactive about the transition.

Don’t call them a taxi: Two of Winnipeg’s largest cab companies are cooperating to make a proactive attempt to keep Uber out of Winnipeg. The global ride-sharing service could be legalized in Toronto, which could pave the way for Uber to start up in other Canadian cities. Uber currently operates in 60 countries and in more than 175 cities in North America including Toronto, Edmonton, Ottawa, Hamilton, Kitchener-Waterloo, Montreal and Quebec City. READ MORE

Where’s the puck: Some Winnipeg Jets fans say the NHL club committed major misconduct when it added a few hundred premium seats to the front of the upper deck, resulting in obstructed views for many others. The loge seating was installed in the upper deck as part of the $12-million in upgrades to MTS Centre, but now patrons in the rows behind say they cannot see the entire ice surface. A spokesman for the Jets said the organization said this past Tuesday’s preseason game against the Minnesota Wild was the first opportunity to see what impact the premium seats would have. “We are now in a better position to identify the location of those seats whose sightlines have been negatively impacted by the addition of the loge seating. We are currently reviewing the specific locations and are working on a plan to address the concerns,” said Scott Brown. READ MORE

#ceosleepout: The good folks who participated in the fifth annual CEP Sleepout didn’t have it so bad as the overnight low was just 14 C around 3 a.m. But imagine having to sleep outside all year long because of homelessness. No one chooses that life. On Thursday night, more than 100 heads of companies and community slept outside near Portage and Main to raise money and awareness for the those that don’t have a permanent home. The event wrapped up today at 7 a.m.
