Commander-in-chief gets checkup: A doctor will release a brief statement today after Donald Trump’s first medical checkup as U.S. president at the Walter Reed military hospital outside Washington. Speculation about Trump’s mental acuity has been rampant, but the White House says he will not undergo a psychiatric examination.

City’s first slaying of 2018: The victim of the city’s first homicide of the year, 77-year-old Parviz Lotfi, was an active member of the North End BIZ who was honoured by Mayor Brian Bowman for his volunteer work with the group. Still searching: The city says it’s possible there’s no written evidence of an agreement through which firefighters union president Alex Forrest was paid nearly $1.2 million in salary, plus benefits and pension payments, between 1997 and March 2014. “We have been searching for some written evidence and have still been unable to locate any,” the city’s chief corporate services officer says.
