Free Press Head Start for Jan. 12

Good morning.

Winnipeg police are advising drivers to avoid entering the downtown area via northbound Main Street because of a serious single-vehicle crash. The northbound lanes of the street are closed at Assiniboine Avenue and Broadway. The Winnipeg Police Service says it hopes to have the roadway reopened by 9 a.m.

Provincial health officials are scheduled to hold their regular Wednesday news conference on the COVID-19 pandemic.

With warmer temperatures, grader plows were set to begin breaking up dangerous ruts of snow and ice on city streets on Tuesday evening.
