On the bright side

Archaeologists have unearthed an ancient tomb in the southern Egyptian city of Luxor; initial examinations show that the tomb apparently belongs to the 18th Dynasty of Pharaonic Egypt (1550 BC to 1292 BC). Read more here.

On Jan. 18, 1932: The Winnipeg Free Press reported a fire at the Allandale Dairy on Notre Dame Avenue west destroyed the farm buildings and killed 58 head of cattle; damage was estimated at $30,000. Canada’s minister of justice Hugh Guthrie praised the U.S. secretary of state’s invocation of the nine-power treaty over the ongoing Japan-China conflict in Manchuria, saying “that it may bring Japan to her senses.” Search our archives for more here.
