Oklahoma to execute man: Donald Anthony Grant is scheduled to receive a lethal injection in Oklahoma for killing two hotel workers during a robbery in 2001. On Jan. 27, 1955: The Winnipeg Free Press reported 40 British seamen in two trawlers were feared lost off the coast of Iceland in a hurricane compounded by snow. A Winnipeg coroner’s jury found a 17-year-old boy had died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound through “misadventure”; testimony indicated the youth had been playing Russian roulette with a friend’s gun. A spokesman for Ford Motor Company of Canada said an agreement had been reached to end a lengthy strike.
