On Jan. 28, 1966: The Winnipeg Free Press reported that in the the United States, nearly a fifth of the members of the Senate were on record urging president Lyndon B. Johnson against resuming bombing attacks on North Vietnam. Quebec premier Lesage confirmed in the provincial legislature that his government was shelving indefinitely a formula to amend the Constitution in Canada. In Ottawa, prime minister Lester B.
