Free Press Head Start for Jan. 4

Good morning.

Former Royal Winnipeg Ballet School students who say a dance instructor took intimate photos of them have reached a settlement with the RWB. The $10-million deal applies to students who were at the school between 1984 and 2015 and were photographed by Bruce Monk in a private setting.

Manitoba parents are anxiously waiting to hear whether the province will require students to return to school Monday or switch to remote learning, as Ontario is doing.

The federal government will today announce an agreement in principle to pay billions in compensation to First Nations children harmed by the child-welfare system, sources told The Canadian Press.
