On Jan. 9, 1930: The Manitoba Free Press reported that members of the Canadian wheat pool would travel from Winnipeg to meet with members of the British government in London; the invitation came from J.H. Thomas, lord privy and minister of unemployment, following a visit he had made to Winnipeg earlier. In Brandon, the dominion minister of railways urged diversification in Manitoba’s agriculture.
