Free Press Head Start for July 19

Good morning.

A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for Winnipeg, and there has already been rain, thunder and lightning this morning. More thunderstorms will develop later this morning and in the afternoon, Environment Canada says. (I attended the John Fogerty concert on Sunday night, and he played both of his rain-themed hits. Perhaps it was an omen.)

The storms come two days after the city tied a humidity record set in 1966.

As of Monday, there were 45 wildfires burning in Manitoba.

A heat wave hitting Europe has led to the United Kingdom’s hottest night on record.

This is my first Head Start bulletin since last month. David Fuller, who handled the newsletter while I away, might be filing more of them in the next week or two.
