‘Serious’ stuff: Winnipeg police remained at the scene of a “serious occurrence” on Grey Street as of about 6 a.m. Police closed the street between Munroe and Moncton avenues because of “an ongoing investigation” at about 10 p.m. Wednesday. Meanwhile, Keewatin Street between Roy and Alexander avenues reopened early today, hours after a “serious collision” involving two vehicles Wednesday night.
Basketball is back: The NBA will resume its regular season when the Utah Jazz face the New Orleans Pelicans in the league’s “bubble” near Orlando, Fla. The league’s two Los Angeles teams, the Clippers and Lakers, play later tonight. READ MORE

On July 30, 1980: The Winnipeg Free Press reported that Manitoba’s longest legislative session ended, with one late bill passing that would raise MLAs’ basic salaries by $2,600 to $22,500 a year. The level of lead in the air near three Winnipeg foundries was double the acceptable limit. The Winnipeg Blue Bombers’ cheerleadar squad made its season debut the night before, as the Bombers defeated the Calgary Stampeders 35-18, the team’s first victory of the season.
