On June 12, 1980: The Winnipeg Free Press reported that the Manitoba Court of Appeal and the provincial government were at odds over the issue of mandatory retirement at age 65; a court ruling dismissed the notion of a mandatory retirement age, while the province rejected a conciliation report that recommended a civil servant forced to retire in 1978 be reinstated.
