A Transcona homeowner’s front yard has been left in the dark for months after a contractor working for Bell MTS severed an electrical line powering an ornamental lamp post. Peter Rogers said he has been complaining since last October, but, as of Monday, no repairs have been made. Kevin Rollason has the story.

A man convicted of repeatedly raping a young woman in her Wolseley home has been labelled a dangerous offender — a designation that could keep him in prison for the rest of his life. Dean Pritchard reports.

On June 13, 1933: The Winnipeg Free Press reported the British government was all but certain to default on its war debt to the United States, unless a late-night cabinet session could reach a new decision. U.S. delegates to the World Economic Forum in London noted the prime minister’s injection of the war debt issue at the outset of the conference, with one calling it inappropriate.
