Flood funds: The provincial and federal governments will today announce a deal on funding to build two outlet channels, the Free Press has learned. The Manitoba government will pay $290 million to bolster Lake Manitoba and Lake St. Martin flood measures, while Ottawa will contribute about $250 million. Dylan Robertson reports. READ MORE

On June 15, 1915: The Manitoba Free Press reported that Canadian soldiers in the 10th and 16th Canadian battalions drove back German forces from their trenches in a fierce bayonet charge. Britain was against seeking peace with Germany until Germany had pulled back from territory it occupied in Belgium and northern France.
