Free Press Head Start for June 4

Good morning.

Today will be a scorcher, with a forecast high within two degrees of the record for today’s date and more than 10 degrees above the average. Twenty city spray pads have opened amid the heat wave.

Winnipeg Jets centre Mark Scheifele has been suspended for four games for his hit on a Montreal Canadiens player in the final minute of a playoff game Wednesday. In his latest column, Mike McIntyre says Scheifele deserves the suspension. Based on comments made on social media, it appears many Jets fans disagree.

Former U.S. vice-president Mike Pence said at a Republican dinner in New Hampshire that he isn’t sure whether he will ever “see eye to eye” with former president Donald Trump regarding what happened at the insurrection at the U.S. Capitol.
