Put to death: A man known as the Stocking Strangler was executed by lethal injection in Georgia Thursday night. Carlton Gary, 67, was convicted of raping and murdering three older women in 1977, and prosecutors say he attacked six others, four fatally. Power up: About 2,200 customers were without power in parts of the west Interlake Thursday night. Manitoba Hydro said power was restored at about 10:45 p.m. and that the cause of the outage was a downed power line north of Oak Point.

Big operation: Undercover cops set up a Mr. Big sting operation in a bid to obtain a confession from Raymond Cormier for the killing of Tina Fontaine, the Crown prosecutor for his trial told the Free Press. Cormier was acquitted last month after the three-week trial. Katie May reports. READ MORE
