Super Tuesday: More than a third of the delegates for the Democratic presidential nomination are up for grabs tonight, with 14 states — including California and Texas — holding primaries. Bernie Sanders is expected to increase his delegate lead over second-place Joe Biden. Two candidates dropped out in less than 24 hours and have endorsed Biden, but millions of Democrats had already cast early votes. Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren and Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard remain in the race. Meanwhile, billionaire Michael Bloomberg is on the ballot for the first time. READ MORE

On March 3, 1939: The Winnipeg Free Press reported that in Halifax, firefighters were faced with the grim task of retrieving bodies from the ice-coated remains of the Queen hotel, which had been destroyed by fire. In Vancouver, the RCAF lost one of its new $75,000 Hawking Hurricane fighter planes when it crashed and burned in a takeoff; the pilot escaped when he jumped from the plane. READ MORE
