Good morning.

The national average price for regular gas hit 197.4 cents per litre on Tuesday, a record high. But at least the roads you’re paying more to drive on are in great shape, right? Right?

Manitoba might be in store for even more rain today. The Free Press spoke to Peguis First Nation residents who are staying put despite the flooding there, and to two Tory MPs about this province’s flood fight.

About four in five Canadians are in favour of abortion rights, while 14 per cent are opposed, a survey by Leger found in the wake of a leaked draft decision by the U.S. Supreme Court.

Ferdinand Marcos Jr., the son of the ousted Philippine dictator, has declared victory in the country’s presidential election.

On May 11, 1950: The Winnipeg Free Press reported thousands of evacuees fled the greater Winnipeg flood area by train, bus, plane and private car; though numbers were difficult to tabulate, one official estimated the number would reach 30,000 by the next day. Army and civilian flood fighters struggled to prevent the Red and Assiniboine rivers from joining at the Norwood Bridge. The city was still able to protect its main public utilities from the flood danger. READ MORE
