On May 15, 1980: Contract negotiations stalled between Winnipeg Enterprises Corporation and Star Kommand as the former awaited further offers from companies that would handle rock concert bookings at the Winnipeg Arena. Meanwhile, the Winnipeg Enterprises board refused to accept the resignation of a city councillor who had made misleading statements about an agreement between the corporation and an advertising firm associated with another city councillor. With no break in the dry weather, farmers were worried, manufacturers of farm implements were laying off workers, and Manitoba Hydro was cutting exports.
