On May 22, 1969: The Winnipeg Free Press reported that a 67-year-old woman was shot dead at about 3 p.m. while she was babysitting at a home on Jubilee Avenue; police were holding a 15-year-old boy in connection with the death. Two Apollo 10 astronauts guided their spacecraft in lunar orbit to within 50,000 feet of the Moon’s surface, to find a suitable spot for a landing to be made by the Apollo 11 mission in July.
