Candace House: The location of a new safe space for survivors of violent crime and victims’ families, will be unveiled today. Candace House will open this fall at 183 Kennedy St., a two-minute walk from the Law Courts building. It honors Candace Derksen, the 13-year-old who was murdered and found frozen and bound in a lumber-yard shed. Katie May reports. READ MORE

On May 31, 1966: The Winnipeg Free Press reported that a drive to stamp out “Igniks” — pedestrians or motorists who ignored the laws governing the relationship between pedestrians and motorists — would begin, as part of an effort to reduce injuries and deaths resulting from collisions.
