Good morning!

Your forecast: Did you spend the weekend taking careful steps on Winnipeg’s icy driveways, sidewalks and streets, just hoping you didn’t take a nasty tumble? Well, make sure you have the same appropriate footwear because now we’ve got a light dusting of snow covering the slippery surfaces. Environment Canada is calling for the overnight snow to end this morning and a high temperature of -8 C under a mostly cloudy sky. On Tuesday, expect another cloudy day, with a 30 per cent chance of morning flurries and a high of -10 C.

On Feb. 2, 1962: The Winnipeg Free Press reported that the ouster of Cuba from the Organization of American States was seen as a costly victory for the United States, since it caused the first major rift in the decade-long history of the OAS. An outbreak of rabies in rural Manitoba had spread to Greater Winnipeg, as evidenced by a rabid cat biting a North Kildonan man. A judge criticized a Winnipeg man, saying he was partly to blame for her crime of defrauding the city welfare department for more money, because he had not paid her support as he was obliged to by law.
