The Environment Canada forecast calls for showers Wednesday and Thursday, with daytime highs in the low teens.

Forest fire season: Wildfires in Eastern Manitoba maintained their rapid growth over the weekend as mandatory evacuations in the Beresford cottage subdivision of Nopiming Provincial Park continued on Sunday. Winds Sunday continue to drive two raging wildfires in the province, the latest bulletin from Manitoba Sustainable Development says. The fire near Beresford Lake grew in size to nearly 50,000 acres from 32,000 acres on Saturday. There is also concern about a blaze near the Manitoba-Ontario border that was easily visible late Sunday night by cottagers in the Caddy Lake area of the Whiteshell. READ MORE
Bokhari’s 180: After going on record saying she wasn’t going to step down and would pursue running in a potential by-election in St. Boniface, provincial Liberal Party leader Rana Bokhari changed her tune Saturday, announcing she would be leaving her post as the party’s head in Manitoba. The Brooks Bandits defeated the Terriers 2-1 on Sunday to book the second and final spot allotted to teams from the WCC.
