Helping hockey player: Peter Baergen Warkentin, 30, was left paralyzed from the middle of his chest down after he was injured in a recreational hockey game in September. Since then, more than $55,000 has been raised online and through the first of two fundraising events. “The support has happened for a reason, and that’s because of who Peter is,” his younger brother David says. Learning about language: A research project aimed at reclaiming the Rocky Cree language is being launched today at the University of Winnipeg. The project — Six Seasons of the Asiniskow Ithiniwak: Reclamation, Regeneration, and Reconciliation — is based on the remains of a Cree woman who lived 350 years ago. Her remains were found in 1993.
