Good morning!

Your forecast: Did you enjoy that extra scoop of summer Mother Nature served up this past weekend? Well, this week’s forecast offers a bit of everything. While it’s a cool morning, things will heat up by mid-afternoon to a high of 21 C. There’s a 30 per cent chance of a rain storm tonight and an overnight low of 14 C. Environment Canada is calling for a warm one Tuesday, with a high of 27 C under a cloudy sky, with a risk of rain in the morning. The sun returns Wednesday and the temperature could climb to 21 C. Showers are expected Thursday, but our weekend looks terrific with temperatures in the low 20s.

And he’s calling for the city to offer up plainclothes police officers to ride along to keep the peace. READ MORE

Suspected drunk hits cop: A city police officer working Saturday night to keep our streets safe was struck and dragged by a vehicle – but, thankfully, the officer is OK. He was part of a team doing roadside checks in the south end of the city when a driver behind the wheel of a stolen Buick Century hit the accelerator after he failed a sobriety test. The officer was struck and dragged for a short distance, and had to be treated for minor injuries in hospital. He’s resting at home. Unfortunately, the bad guy got away. READ MORE

New building for HSC: A peek at the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority’s strategic plan for 2016-20 shows a new building for patient care is on the drawing board, along with renovations to the Victoria General Hospital. But it’s not clear when a new “bed tower” at HSC would be built. Some of the facility’s wings date back to the 1940s. Any new structure would contain more private rooms than shared rooms, said WRHA interim president and CEO Lori Lamont.
