Multiple weekend collisions: Three people died and 11 others were injured in three separate incidents in Manitoba on Saturday. All could have been prevented. One driver ran a red light. A second incident occurred when an ATV speeding in a ditch hit an embankment, went airborne and killed two men. Emissions warning: Look today for provinces including Manitoba to react with concern to a surprising announcement Sunday by federal Environment Minister Catherine McKenna. Speaking on CTV’s Question Period, she said Ottawa will impose in October a carbon price on provinces that do not adequately regulate emissions. Provinces including Manitoba have considerable jurisdiction over the environment and Sunday’s warning could be seen as meddling. READ MORE

Go Riders: When we cheer the Saskatchewan Roughriders for beating the Edmonton Eskimos in overtime on Sunday, it shouldn’t be misconstrued that we are fans of the green gridiron guys. On Sept. 19, 1990: The Winnipeg Free Press reported that a criminal network with ties to five local satanic cults was involved in drug trafficking, pornography, child abuse and possibly murder, according to a Winnipeg police report.
