Your forecast: If this were an episode of Seinfeld, Jerry would say we were all living in the Bizarro World. That’s the fictional comic book land where everything happens in reverse. And that’s kind of what’s happening here as the long-range weather forecast shows a pattern opposite to what we’d expect for late September. Today, we’re finishing off a spectacular little streak of hot fall weather, with a daytime high of 28 C under a clear, sunny sky. Then Tuesday we’re back to more seasonable weather, with a high of 17 C. Makes perfect sense. But then the mercury climbs to 18 C on Wednesday, 20 C on Thursday and 22 C on Friday, followed by a crazy warm weekend, with daytime highs in the mid-20s. Bizarro, indeed.Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

Missing boy, mom located: The Winnipeg Police Service is expected to release more details today after a woman and her son were located somewhere in Manitoba on Sunday – a day after a Canada-wide search warrant was issued for her on abduction charges. Charlotte McMahon, 35, and her son, Tristan, 12, were seen Saturday morning near Ness Avenue and Sturgeon Road but then disappeared for more than 24 hours before being found. Police said privacy laws prohibit them from discussing the boy’s custody situation. READ MORE
Suzuki wants Tories out: Noted Canadian environmentalist David Suzuki has taken direct aim at the federal Conservative Party for what he calls its anti-science policies, suggesting he will do all he can do ensure the Tories do not get into power again. The award-winning broadcaster was in Winnipeg on Sunday to speak at a Leadnow event for its Vote Together campaign. Leadnow is an advocacy group that has identified swing ridings the Tories could win if the NDP, Liberals and Green parties split the vote. Suzuki told a crowd of 200 people, “My concern is the Harper government has shown itself to be so far out of what I think of as a democratically elected government… I believe that it will be terrible for Canada and democracy if (Stephen) Harper is re-elected.” READ MORE
Bombers bombed again: We’re not sure if you actually missed it or are just trying to permanently erase it from your brain, but the Winnipeg Blue Bombers suffered another blowout loss Sunday. This time, it was the Montreal Alouettes who had their way with this city’s sadsack CFL club, posting a 35-14 triumph. The loss dropped the Bombers to 4-8, and their next two games are against the Calgary Stampeders (9-3) and Edmonton Eskimos (8-4). READ MORE

Pat answer: Winnipeg Centre NDP MP Pat Martin, facing challenges from newcomers Don Woodstock (Green) and Robert-Falcon Ouellette (Liberal) lashed out at his rivals who have suggested, among other things, he doesn’t spend much time in the riding. Martin criticized Ouellette’s wife for being “afraid she’ll have her hubcaps stolen if she ventures too far into the riding” and made disparaging remarks about Ouellette. Oullette said being called names and putting up with personal attacks was nothing new for him, but demanded an apology for the remark about his wife. READ MORE
