Stefanson to be sworn in: Heather Stefanson is set to be sworn in as the province’s first woman premier at 2 p.m. The lawyer representing defeated Progressive Conservative leadership candidate Shelly Glover wants the ceremony to be postponed because of questions about ballots. Set to speak: Winnipeg Jets general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff and Jets co-owner and chairman Mark Chipman are expected to speak about Cheveldayoff’s involvement in the Chicago Blackhawks sex assault scandal. Monday’s expected media availability was postponed because Chipman was suffering from vertigo. The Jets GM has not publicly discussed his role in the investigation. Cheveldayoff is the only person still employed in the NHL who attended a 2010 meeting in which the allegations were discussed. Mike McIntyre has a column. READ MORE
Seeing Stars: The Winnipeg Jets face the Dallas Stars tonight in their first home game since before the report on the Blackhawks sex assault scandal was released. The NHL later ruled Cheveldayoff’s role in the matter did not warrant disciplinary action. READ MORE
Plan for The Pas: The Manitoba Métis Federation will announce a multi-million dollar investment in The Pas that includes “affordable housing, a new daycare centre, a public park and a community garden.” READ MORE
COVID-19 shots for kids: A special advisory panel to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will meet to consider detailed recommendations for administering the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine to younger children. The Food and Drug Administration has already cleared the use of the vaccine. The Associated Press reports.

On Nov. 2, 1934: The Winnipeg Free Press reported Franco-German animosity over the Saar basin continued to increase. British MP Winston Churchill continued to warn that the Nazi “reign of terror” within Germany was meant to hide the country’s rapid rearmament in contravention of the Treaty of Versailles. Three men were convicted on charges arising out of unrest during a mine strike in The Pas.
